Scrubs Color: Red
Visible Age: 21
Gender: Female
Height: 5'5
Physique: On the smaller side, to the point you might believe she's a touch weak and fragile

Hygiene: When Johanna is being groomed by a Capitol stylist, she's immaculate, but will quickly devolve into Arena Chic (aka, rough, low on hygiene, few cares about anything other than the basics)
Hair: Short brown, just above the shoulders
Eyes: Blue-Grey
Defining Marks: Johanna has a few scars left over from her Games, though most of them have faded by now thanks to her healing. She's currently torn up a little from the Quarter Quell, but the fountain will heal her
Accent/Speech: Sharp, bitter and firm without hesitation
Bearing/Demeanor: Johanna is aggressive and moves with purpose, not hesitating. She can be lethal and cutting with words and sharp blades
Gait: Purposeful and quick
Habits: She'll keep something sharp within reach at all times and doesn't have much patience for the world around her
Skills: Johanna’s skills lie mainly in survival, though her fierceness and determination make her something of a roach. She’s willing to adapt to survive and suffer in order to do the same. Even though she might be broken, she’s never out of it and she’ll keep pushing with her bitterness and anger until the job is done. This determination and stubbornness will see Johanna through many of the more frustrating aspects of the village. She’s not a leader, but she can be a team player if it benefits herself, and her skill with lumber will help make her an asset. Despite her diminutive stature, she’s very strong and will be able to help with the hunting, as well as other survival necessities.

Johanna also brings a flash of truth and reality to things. She’s not an optimistic person and hope hasn’t been her friend for long, so she’ll size up situations for exactly what they are and isn’t afraid to be blunt and objective about them. She’s also not under the impression that you can save everyone and would be willing to be the devil’s advocate in hard situations.

PERSONALITY OVERVIEW

In the Hunger Games, everyone has to play a part. Johanna might not be a career, but she understands the way the world ticks by in a way that’s helped her to survive. Growing up in District 7, she’s accustomed to hard work and rough labour in order to survive and she’s perceptive about the people and the world around her enough to know how to manipulate it in her favour (for the most part). During her first Hunger Games, Johanna played the part she knew the Capitol would believe of her. Frail, fragile, and fatigued, Johanna bided her time until the playing field was even before she allowed her true nature to show. The Capitol liked its citizens subservient and weak, but Johanna bears a fierceness laced with bitterness at the circumstances of her birth and life that only curdles as more time passes and even security, safety, and riches fade away into something worse.

She’s a lonely young woman, isolated by the choices she’s made and the fact that her personality is harder than most are ready to cope with. Somewhat of a chaotic good, Johanna puts herself first and foremost, but still understands the way the world works enough to know that her life is secondary to a revolution. Besides, isn’t it better to go out giving a ‘fuck you’ to the institution that just wants to see you dead? Johanna lacks much patience for other people, preferring that the point is reached quickly. It’s as much about wanting to be efficient as it is her lack of trust or fondness for anyone else.

More than anything, Johanna is a survivor. She might call herself a roach, but she knows that she has to adapt to survive and even though it erodes away at her kindness and softness, she turns that constant-burning anger towards the real enemy in her life. It’s not that Johanna is seeking peace so much as retribution and she’s not afraid to get a little blood on her hands to get there. If peace of mind and heart happens to come along the way, it’ll be a nice bonus, but Johanna’s smart enough to know that that isn’t the way the world works.

Happy endings are a joke – she just wants the chance to keep adding new chapters to her story.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

What skills does your character bring to the situation?: Johanna’s skills lie mainly in survival, though her fierceness and determination make her something of a roach.

Explain how your character would react to the following:

- Discovering that their memories may have been tampered with: In a way, Johanna would welcome an absence of memories because it would mean that all the crap she’s dealt with in her life would go away. That would last for about two seconds before reality kicked in and the loss of control would annoy her to the point of anger and frustration, potential snapping that someone out there is controlling her mind (and potentially her body) because it’s about the only thing she’s got left to her and if someone is trying to take that away from her, there’s going to be hell to pay

- Having to do physical labor to survive: Johanna is used to physical labour from her childhood in 7, a lumber district, and the brutal onslaught of the Games and what they require out of a person. Her stamina is also higher than most, given the inability to take a rest during the Games, though she will often push herself past her limits in order to keep on surviving. Despite her stylist’s attempts to hone her into something polished and shiny, Johanna is a rough girl accustomed to work and will continue that in the village

- Having to share resources with others: Johanna’s going to have issues with sharing her resources. Not only will she perceive the situation to be one that’s a punishment for her rebellion against the Capitol, but she will also be wary of making alliances with those she doesn’t trust. While Johanna is well-capable of providing hard work and labour, she will likely only end up sharing with Annie and Finnick to start, needing to be persuaded using trade and coercion for her to see good reason to share with others. It may cause strife between her and others, but Johanna is looking out for herself first and foremost.

- Being unable to leave the area: Given that Johanna has twice experienced being trapped in an arena and forced to fight the Games, she’s accustomed to being in a pen not of her own doing. She will think that given her actions in the rebellion and her ensuing capture, the Capitol has dumped her into an old arena for punishment, so she will be very frustrated and her patience will be short. That said, her belief will be that the others are allies and will keep her more murderous instincts and the need to be the last one standing in check. She won’t be nonchalant, precisely, but it will take a lot to shock/bother her, despite her impatience with the situation

- Doing without modern conveniences and technology and/or being around tech more advanced than they're used to: While Johanna is from 7, which is a predominantly lumber based economy, she has also experienced the wealth of being a victor from the home to the treatment on the victory tour to time in the Capitol. While she would never describe herself as living in the lap of luxury, there will be conveniences that she’ll greatly miss, hot water being chief among them. This will drive her unwillingness to share resources if she doesn’t have to, because being separated from the things that make her unbearable life somewhat livable will drive her to hold on even tighter when a convenience comes around

- Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable: Johanna is alone. Her loved ones were already taken from her and she’s fairly short on friends; the one that she does have is already in the village, so it won’t be much of a change in Johanna’s life. The one thing that she will find frustrating is her inability to see the rebellion through and to find out whether Katniss is able to be the Mockingjay and do what no one else could before. The village will actually be good for Johanna to try and make connections, having never done so before because of her awareness that the Capitol would just take them away
